Local Fishing Reports

10/12/2011 - Lots of perch being caught, some walleye   Fishing For

Perch fishing has been great for about a week now, NW of West Sister and North of B-Can, now we're getting good reports around A-Can water has cleared some and they are starting to move in near the cans. Still getting some walleyes perch fishing, and North of West Sister trolling Deep Reef Runners, no limits, if the weather holds even close to what its been this past week, walleye should bite. Calling for some rain and wind this weekend, but haven't said how much, so it may not happen. We will be open this weekend and probably next weekend. Shiners we have them, full moon, but with cloud cover they have been able to catch some shiners. Be sure to double count your perch, lots of overbagging tickets were written this past week. Captain Dave from Happy Hooker.

10/14/2011 - weather not good today, windy, rainy   Fishing For

We expected the weather yesterday, that we have today, windy, rainy, I imagine few charters will go but it won't be pretty. The Jackson's reporting from just north of a-can yesterday had boat limit of mostly 9-10" perch. Also, starting to catch a few walleye again, hopefully that bite will pick up. If the weather holds up next few days perch are starting to move in closer. We will open at 6:00 a.m Sat and Sun, so far we have shiners. Captain Dave from Happy Hooker.

10/16/2011 - weather    Fishing For

Friday and Saturday both days were unfishable, today the winds have finally died down some, water was sucked out of channels and docks, making it impossible to get out channels or to pull boats, water has came back in some. Lake will probably settle some today and tonite looks like may be good perch and walleye fishing this coming week. Just when the walleye started to bite around A-L can area, trolling deep little rippers, the weather went to crap, hopefully this bite will continue this week, if the weather holds nice. Looks like now our last weekend open will be weekend of Oct 22 Oct 23. Be sure to get your gift certificates and happy hooker shirts. Captain Dave from Happy Hooker.

10/20/2011 - weather still yuck   Fishing For

Past 24 hrs we have had over 3" of rain, water everywhere except wind has water level down 3 or more feet in channels. Still today its pretty much unfishable, wind, lake seems to be muddy as far as the eye can see. Still calling for wind on Friday 3-5 footers subsiding to 1-3 Sat 1-3 footers, Sunday 1-3 and building later in evening. Anyone's guess will it be fishable Sat and Sun. Hopefully it is the walleye seemed to have moved back in. Walleye Central Charity dinner Friday nite in Huron, Ohio hope to see you there. Bragging rights fishing contest on Saturday out of Huron. We will be open Fri Sat and Sunday, so you can get the hot reef runners. Captain Dave from Happy Hooker
